I just finished watching the Rachel Zoe hangout featuring the Dannijo Spring 2014 collection, and I'm so thrilled with what I've seen so far. The designers, sisters Jodie Snyder Morel and Danielle Snyder, have created something different from their previous collections. While the pieces in the Dannijo Noir collection still have some of the same statement-making silhouettes from previous seasons, the Noir collection (as suggested by the name) is darker, edgier, and more sultry.
Models for the presentation lounged in a sexy, glamorous bedroom set, dressed in lace and silk. In the hangout interview with Coco Rocha, the design duo explained why they went with darker elements for Spring; they wanted to create something that would offset the typically softer clothing pieces of the season. They wanted pieces that could stand out against the traditional pastels yet also look cool with a casual top.
Fashion blogger Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller (and friends with the Dannijo sisters) attended the showing and gave an interview with Coco Rocha. When asked what the difference is this season, she said that the pieces in the Noir collection have more longevity. I couldn't agree more, as the statement pieces have just enough edge but still display such traditionally ornate beauty.
What do you think of the collection so far? I love it! I can't wait to see the official presentation photos.
