A block heel is not only one of the top shoe trends for 2016, but it's also much easier to walk in than a stiletto. Definitely a win-win. It also offers a more structured and solid look that is perfect for wearing both during daytime or for an evening out. Though my absolute favorite this season is the Schutz Women's Enida Dress Sandal. It's simple and classic, as well as on trend with the block heel, and being that it's a tall, slim block heel, it'll go with just about any kind of skirt or dress. It's definitely a wise investment if you plan to get in on this trend. The Steve Madden Women's Carrson Dress Sandal is a nice budget option.
The beauty of this trend is it comes in all different heights. A heel like the Splendid Women's SPL-Kenya Dress Sandal, for example, is almost like walking on a wedge but with an even wider base - in other words easy and comfortable...and very cute!
How to Wear the Block Heel Trend
To pair it with a feminine flowy skirt; go with a block heel that has that 70s vibe, like a peep toe with ankle strap, or this kind with the wide criss-cross straps on the vamp. Or go with a delicate strappy pair, or a very low block heel with some embellishments.
Pair a white boho summer dress with this amazing Sam Edelman Women's Yvette Heeled Sandal.
This Steve Madden Women's Serrina Dress Sandal would be perfect with a pleated midi skirt.
A more structured and modern pair is perfect with a pencil skirt, or trousers. The Rachel Comey and Giuseppe Zanotti block heel sandals pictured above - how amazing would these look with a black sheath dress? Either would each serve as the ultimate pair of summer statement shoes!
The more 70s inspired block-heel sandal is perfect with some flared jeans, but of course as we head into warmer months, you're more likely to pair them with a flared A-line skirt.
Best of all, I'm certain just about any of these would look great with a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans. From delicate strappy high-heel sandals to chunky mules and booties, the chunky heel is all over the place this year. Which kind is your favorite?
